Another exhilarating adventure for MoonCatchers comes to a close
We left Mtunthama around 8:00 this morning squished into two vehicles with a ridiculous amount of luggage jammed in all around us.
Our sweet family in Malawi
Saying goodbye to our families was bittersweet but hopefully we’ll see these people again. They welcomed us so lovingly into their homes and assured us that we are now part of their families and must return.
We drove for about two hours and then left the bulk of the luggage at Luzu’s, our dear funny driver, house so that we could ride in greater comfort to Lake Malawi.
Luzu knew that I was looking for baskets so stopped at a road side stand to show me some. We bought two, and would have bought more but they have handles so I was concerned about how to pack them efficiently as they don’t nest together. I like having some things from Malawi to sell at MoonBees.
Later we shopped again at an outdoor market that sells all sorts of things. I bought some earrings and spoons but mostly felt like the items were not things that I could sell easily to MoonCatcher supporters.
Phoebe at Lake Malawi Beach
The rest of the afternoon was spent at Lake Malawi swimming and sitting on the sand drinking 96 cent beers. It felt so nice to stop for a while and just enjoy this beautiful country. The water was amazingly warm and silky and the waves were perfect for gentle body surfing.
We are meeting for a group dinner this evening and tomorrow head for the airport to fly home.
This has been a productive, fascinating, wonderful adventure.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful
